Do you take your loved one to an appointment (doctor, hair cut, dentist once a week?)
Do you regularly pick up their prescriptions at the pharmacy?
Are you in the habit of cooking or sharing a meal once a week?
Do you have to let your own to-do's go to take care of someone else's?
Do you represent your loved ones interest in family conversations?
Do you speak up in the doctor's office?
Do you spend 20 hours a week with your loved one?
If you've answered yes to over half these questions, you are considered a caregiver. If family caregivers were paid market wages for the services they offer free of charge, their compensation would approximate the entire Medicare budget.
If you have come to the realization that you are a caregiver - make sure that you read some of our blogs on how to take care of yourself.
Remember to add your email address to the right of this blog to stay up-to-date on when my new ones are posted.
